About the CELPIP Writing test
The CELPIP Writing test has two tasks in 53 minutes: writing an email (Task 1) and responding to survey questions (Task 2). Both are judged on content and coherence, vocabulary, readability, and task fulfilment, which are the same four dimensions the feedback here reports on.
Choose a task, write under a timer, and submit. The AI reviews your response against those criteria and returns an estimated level along with specific suggestions, so you can see which sentences weakened your score rather than guessing. Scoring here is deliberately strict, so the level you see is a study signal rather than a prediction of your official result.
Writing is reported as its own level from 0 to 12, and from level 3 up that number is your CLB writing level. Most economic immigration programs ask for CLB 7 in every skill, so the estimated level the feedback returns tells you roughly how far you are from the band you need.
Rewriting the same task after reading the feedback is the most effective way to use this page.
CELPIP Writing Practice - FAQ
53 minutes for both tasks together: 27 minutes for Task 1, the email, and 26 minutes for Task 2, the survey response. The timer here matches that, because finishing inside the limit is a large part of what the test measures.
Roughly 150 to 200 words for each task. Aim for 160 to 190. Well under the range usually means you skipped one of the bullet points you were asked to cover, and well over usually means repetition, which costs marks on vocabulary and readability rather than earning them.
CLB 9. CELPIP-General reports a level from 0 to 12 for each skill, and from level 3 up that level is already your CLB level, so no conversion is needed. Our CELPIP score chart page has the full table and the minimum each immigration program asks for.
It is a study signal, not an official result. The feedback grades against the same four dimensions the real exam uses - content and coherence, vocabulary, readability, and task fulfilment - and scoring here is deliberately strict. Use it to see which sentences weakened the response. Only Paragon can tell you your CELPIP result.
A free account gets a daily allowance, shown at the top of this page with what is left of it, and there is no cap on how many tasks you write without feedback. If you need more in one sitting, an optional paid pass gives more AI reviews (Writing and Speaking together): a Day pass ($4.99 CAD, up to 100 AI reviews in its 24 hours), a 7-day pass ($5.99 CAD) or a 30-day pass ($14.99 CAD), each up to 30 AI reviews per 24 hours.
It depends who the prompt says you are writing to. A letter to a landlord, a manager, or a company needs formal register and a clear subject line. A note to a friend or neighbour can be relaxed. Getting this wrong is a common way to lose marks on task fulfilment even when the grammar is clean.
