About the CELPIP Reading test
The CELPIP Reading test runs 43 to 56 minutes across four parts: reading correspondence, reading to apply a diagram, reading for information, and reading for viewpoints. Each part uses a different kind of passage, so practising them separately is the fastest way to find where you lose marks.
Every practice set here mirrors that structure. Pick a part to begin, work through the questions under the same time pressure as the real exam, then review your answers immediately to see which question types cost you points.
Reading is reported as its own level from 0 to 12, and from level 3 up that number is your CLB reading level. Most economic immigration programs ask for CLB 7 in every skill, and CLB 9 is where meaningfully more points open up, so it is worth knowing which band your accuracy currently puts you in.

CELPIP Reading Practice - FAQ
43 to 56 minutes for all four parts together. There are 38 scored questions, split 11, 8, 9 and 10, so the later parts carry more weight than their position suggests. Some tests also carry unscored questions used for test development, which you cannot tell apart from the rest.
Reading correspondence, reading to apply a diagram, reading for information, and reading for viewpoints. Correspondence is a letter or email with a short reply to complete. The diagram part asks you to match written information to a chart or form. Reading for information uses a longer factual passage, and reading for viewpoints asks you to follow opinions and attitudes rather than facts.
CLB 9. CELPIP-General reports a level from 0 to 12 for each skill, and from level 3 up that level is already your CLB level, so no conversion is needed. Our CELPIP score chart page has the full table and the minimum each immigration program asks for.
Most people find Part 4, reading for viewpoints, the hardest. The passage contains several opinions and the questions ask what a particular person thinks rather than what is factually stated, so the answer is rarely a phrase you can point to directly. Practising that part on its own is usually the fastest way to lift a reading score.
